HGV Technician | Croydon, Reading & Wellingborough | Full Time | Up to £26 per hour

Working Pattern & Salary
The exact shift pattern and salary will depend on your chosen location:
Croydon
- Monday to Friday
- Rotating shifts: 6:00am–2:30pm / 2:30pm–11:00pm
- 40 hours per week paid
- Up to £26 per hour, depending on skills and experience
- Overtime available Saturday and Sunday
- Double time on Sunday
Reading
- Monday to Friday
- Rotating shifts: 6:00am–2:30pm / 2:30pm–11:00pm
- Up to £23 per hour, depending on skills and experience
- Overtime paid at time and a half, Monday to Saturday
- Double time on Sundays and bank holidays
Wellingborough
- Rotating shift pattern across a four-week cycle:
- Week 1: Monday to Thursday, 5:00am–3:00pm
- Week 2: Monday to Thursday, 2:00pm–12:00am
- Week 3: Tuesday to Friday, 5:00am–3:00pm, plus Saturday overtime
- Week 4: Tuesday to Friday, 2:00pm–12:00am
- Up to £22 per hour, depending on skills and experience
- Overtime opportunities available

The Role
As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring repairs are carried out safely and responsibly, in accordance with manufacturer procedures and required standards.
You will assist with fault diagnosis, support roadside breakdowns and work closely with the Parts Team and Workshop Controllers to ensure vehicles are maintained correctly.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer procedures, safely and responsibly
- Ensure repairs are completed in accordance with standard times, using special tools where appropriate
- Assist with the fault diagnosis process
- Comply with warranty procedures and ensure warranty materials are completed correctly
- Work with the Parts Team to ensure the correct replacement parts are fitted
- Road test vehicles where required, if you hold an HGV licence
- Assist with roadside breakdowns
- Ensure company time recording procedures are followed and job cards are completed accurately
- Complete service sheets in accordance with instructions
- Ensure all vehicle defects are reported to Workshop Controllers
- Keep workshop facilities, equipment and tools clean, tidy and well maintained
- Wear personal protective equipment where appropriate
- Support the development of young trainees and apprentices
Requirements
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent City & Guilds qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
- Fully qualified HGV Technician
- Relevant HGV Technician experience
- Strong mechanical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- A proactive attitude with a strong focus on customer service and safety
- Full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to work the relevant rotating shift pattern

Desirable
- Previous experience working for an HGV manufacturer or dealer
- Experience with Scania, Volvo Trucks, DAF, Renault Trucks or other major HGV manufacturers/dealers
- HGV driving licence
