HGV / Fleet Maintenance Technicians

Location: Biggleswade (SG18 8YY)
Salary: £18.00 to £24.00 per hour (Dependent on experience)
Shift Patterns: Multiple options available (Days, Nights, Weekends, and 4-on / 4-off)

With a proud heritage dating back to 1975, our client is a leading name in commercial vehicle sales, servicing, and fleet maintenance across the region. As a trusted partner to major brands like DAF and Volkswagen, we keep the logistics and transport industry moving.

We are currently expanding our team at our dedicated Co-op Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU) / TRP Service Plus center in Biggleswade. This is a modern, fast-paced fleet workshop handling a diverse range of "all-makes" commercial trucks, trailers, and delivery fleets. Because our workload is growing, we can offer incredible flexibility with multiple shift patterns to suit your lifestyle.

Available Shift Patterns & Hours

We are looking for skilled technicians to join us across any of the following rotas:

  • Day Shift: Monday to Friday | 9 hours per day (45 hours per week total)
  • Night Shift: 4-on / 3-off rotas | Monday to Thursday OR Tuesday to Friday | 12-hour shifts (48 hours per week total)
  • 4-on / 4-off: Regular rotating patterns across both days and nights.
  • Weekend Shifts: Dedicated weekend coverage also available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out scheduled servicing, inspection, and preventative maintenance on a diverse fleet of commercial trucks and trailers.
  • Diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical faults efficiently.
  • Completing repairs (brakes, suspension, engines, etc.) to high manufacturer and DVSA standards.
  • Preparing fleet vehicles for annual MOT testing.
  • Ensuring all digital workshop documentation and safety sheets are completed accurately.

What We Are Looking For

  • A relevant qualification in Heavy Vehicle Repair (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent experience).
  • Experience working on heavy commercial vehicles, trailers, or large delivery fleets.
  • A strong work ethic, high safety standards, and a team-player attitude.
  • An HGV Class 1 or 2 license is a distinct advantage, but not strictly required.
