Summary of vacancy

Are you a skilled vehicle technician with experience working on heavy goods and articulated vehicles?

We are looking for a seasoned Vehicle Technician, ideally with NVQ level in Heavy Goods Vehicle maintenance or equivalent skills gained through experience.

Due to business growth, we have a rare opportunity to join a small working team in our workshop in Washington where all vehicles are emptied, washed and prepared before entering workshops and there is a strong focus on creating an excellent working environment.

About The Role

Location: Washington, Houghton-Le-Spring, DH4 7BG.

Salary: £49,660.98 / £21.15 per hour

Working Hours: Monday-Friday

Working Hours per Week: 40

Shift Pattern:

  • Week 1: 6:30-15:00
  • Week 2: 8:30-17:00

Benefits:

  • Overtime available at x1.5 & x2.0, plus day in lieu for Bank Holiday
  • 4 weeks holiday (rising each year you're with us) plus 8 days Bank holidays
  • Full PPE Provided

The Role

As an HGV Technician, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet to the highest safety and performance standards. Working alongside an experienced and supportive team, you'll carry out:

  • Routine servicing, maintenance and inspections.
  • Diagnostics and fault finding on HGVs and articulated vehicles.
  • Mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensuring all vehicles remain compliant with DVSA and company standards.
  • Accurate completion of job cards and maintenance records.

Our vehicles arrive pre-cleaned and emptied before entering the workshop, allowing you to spend your time doing what you do best—maintaining and repairing vehicles, not cleaning them.

What We're Looking For

You'll ideally have:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance.
  • Previous experience working on HGVs or commercial vehicles.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • A positive attitude with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A valid Class 2 (Category C) HGV driving licence.
  • A Basic DBS check will form part of the recruitment process.
