Help Keep Scotland Moving This Winter

Winter Patrol Drivers

Location: Nairn, Scotland

6-Month Fixed-Term Contract | October to March (Including Training/Induction period)

Looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference to local communities? We're recruiting Winter Patrol Drivers to join our NMC North East team in Nairn on a fixed-term contract throughout the winter season. In this vital role, you'll help keep roads safe and accessible during some of the year's most challenging weather conditions.

From operating gritting vehicles to supporting essential highway maintenance activities, you'll play a key role in keeping Scotland moving.

What You'll Be Doing

As part of our Winter Operations team, you'll:

  • Drive and operate gritting vehicles and other specialist plant and equipment
  • Carry out winter maintenance activities, including gritting, inspections and minor highway maintenance works
  • Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects accurately
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with health and safety procedures
  • Record time, resources and operational activities using company systems
  • Attend team briefings and contribute to safe, efficient operations
  • Work closely with colleagues, clients, emergency services and members of the public
  • Maintain accurate records and complete all required paperwork

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Valid HGV Class 2 Licence
  • Full Driver CPC qualification
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • A proactive and safety-conscious approach to work
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Desirable:

  • Previous winter maintenance experience
  • Telehandler qualification
