About the Company
Contek Recruitment Solutions are collaborating with our client who are a leading scrap metal recycling specialist based in Bordesley Green, Birmingham (B8). They buy, process, and recycle all grades of ferrous and non-ferrous metals including aluminium, copper, brass, steel, and iron, providing eco-friendly waste management solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial clients across the Midlands and the UK.
The Role
They are looking for a reliable, hard-working Class 2 (Cat C) Driver to join our transport team operating out of our Birmingham yard. You will be responsible for transporting scrap metal products, picking up bulk collections from industrial and commercial customer sites, and delivering processed materials safely and on schedule.

Driver Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 2 vehicles (e.g., skip, hook loader, or flatbed vehicles) to collect and drop off scrap metal loads.
- Conduct daily pre-shift vehicle checks, reporting any defects promptly.
- Ensure all loads are correctly secured and weighed accurately before departure and upon return to the yard.
- Assist with loading and unloading where required, following site safety protocols at all times.
- Complete relevant delivery notes and accurate digital tachograph records.
- Act as a professional representative for Countrywide Metals when interacting with clients on collection runs.
Requirements & Experience

- Valid UK HGV Class 2 (Category C) Driving Licence.
- Up-to-date Driver CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card.
- Experience with skip trucks, hook loaders, or metal/waste transport is highly desirable (training provided for the right candidate).
- Maximum of 6 points on licence (no IN, DR, or DD endorsements for insurance purposes).
- Strong reliability, punctual attitude, and good physical fitness.
Benefits & Salary
- Guaranteed Hours: 50 paid hours every week across a consistent Monday-Friday shift pattern (7:00 AM - 5:00 PM).
- Weekly Earnings: £775.00 gross per week (£15.50/hr).
