High Voltage Electrician – Mission Critical Role

General Summary
The High Voltage Electrician will specialise in the installation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning of high voltage electrical systems, with strict adherence to safety standards and internal procedures.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of low and high voltage electrical systems and equipment
- Contribute to Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
- Prepare and execute switching schedules
- Perform isolations, earthing, and Law of Work Preventive Measures (LoWPPM) duties
- Conduct planned and emergency maintenance of electrical systems
- Carry out basic protection testing on HV equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults with urgency
- Respond to emergencies, site outages, and unexpected circumstances
- Provide technical input for infrastructure projects and maintenance programs
- Identify and resolve operational challenges on site or remotely
- Ensure compliance with site safety policies and documentation
- Collaborate with critical business teams to schedule maintenance outages
- Liaise and coordinate tasks with external suppliers and contractors (Cathcart site focus)

Education, Skills & Experience
Essential
- High Voltage Engineer Qualification (mandatory)
- Five or more years’ direct experience as an HV electrician, preferably in a manufacturing or testing environment specialising in pumps or rotating equipment
- Demonstrable familiarity with:
- Induction motors
- Transformers
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
Perquisite (Desirable but not Mandatory)
- Experience with NAMUR safety standards and process control safety systems
- Familiarity with simple programming for HMI, PLC, and SCADA systems

Representative daily/occasional demands for successful role performance:
- Daily: Standing, sitting, walking, talking, hearing, and close-vision tasks (monitors/computers phones).
- Occasional: Crouching, crawling, climbing, access to high/inconsistent surfaces.
- Daily: Hand/arm usage for typing, reaching, and operating machinery.
- Occasional: Light-to-moderate lifting (<20kg).
- Occasional: Road/air travel (vehicle/workspace).
