Role Description
The High Voltage Technician role at Robinson HVPD Ltd is a contract, on-site position based in Billingham. The technician will carry out day-to-day high-voltage and low-voltage electrical work, including installation, commissioning, testing, and routine maintenance of electrical equipment and power systems.

Responsibilities

- Diagnosing and troubleshooting faults
- Performing corrective and preventive maintenance
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company and regulatory procedures
- Documenting test results
- Maintaining accurate service records
- Coordinating with project teams
- Communicating clearly with clients on technical findings and service outcomes
The technician is expected to follow site safety protocols, use appropriate tools and test equipment, and support continuous improvement in system reliability and performance.
Qualifications
- Power Generation and high-voltage systems knowledge, with the ability to work safely on HV/LV equipment.
- Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing electrical issues and resolving faults efficiently.
- Maintenance & Repair capabilities for a range of electrical components and power distribution systems.
- Preventive Maintenance experience to plan and execute scheduled inspections and reliability-focused tasks.
- Customer Service skills to communicate clearly with clients, explain technical findings, and provide professional support.
- Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in electrical engineering, power engineering, or a related field.
- Understanding of electrical safety standards, permits to work, and site-specific safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and capability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience in industrial, utility, or power generation environments is beneficial.
