Long Term Futures are working in partnership with a large secondary academy in Chesterfield (S41) to appoint a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support pupils within Foundation Learning. The academy supports students aged 11-18 and is part of a well-established Multi-Academy Trust. Working closely with the Foundation Learning Lead and teaching staff, you will provide targeted academic and SEND support to help pupils overcome barriers, better access the secondary curriculum, and make positive academic, social, and personal progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Foundation Learning Lead and teaching staff to support pupils who require additional help accessing the secondary curriculum
  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
  • Deliver interventions and learning activities, adapting resources and strategies to meet individual pupil needs
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff to help inform future support and interventions
  • Support pupils' holistic development, ensuring both their academic progress and wider social and emotional needs are considered

About You

  • NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, equivalent qualification, or relevant experience within education. HLTA status is desirable, although candidates working towards this will also be considered
  • Previous experience supporting young people with SEND within a school or educational environment
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent), with strong literacy and numeracy skills
  • Good knowledge of the National Curriculum and strategies used to support pupils with additional learning needs
  • A positive, proactive team player with high expectations and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people
