About The Role
Horbury Primary Academy is seeking to appoint a proactive, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support high-quality learning, promote an inclusive environment, and inspire pupils to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.
The Higher-Level Teaching Assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting teaching and learning across the academy, providing comprehensive PPA cover for class teachers and leading whole-class learning with confidence, enthusiasm, and professionalism. Working closely with teaching staff, the ideal candidate will contribute to the full planning, delivery, and assessment cycle, helping to ensure that all pupils receive an engaging and enriching educational experience.
The postholder will also support the effective management of classroom behaviour, creating a positive, calm, and purposeful learning environment where every child feels valued, safe, and supported to succeed. This role requires a proactive and adaptable professional with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who can work independently, use initiative effectively, and build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families. A commitment to inclusion is essential, with the ability to identify and overcome barriers to learning, respond sensitively to the diverse needs of pupils, and provide targeted support that enables every child to thrive both academically and personally.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
