Four Hills Education Trust - Millbrook Primary School

Contract Type: Fixed Term Until the End of Summer Term 2027, Term Time Only

Working Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 32.25 hours per week. Working hours are 8:30am to 4:00pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 8:30am to 5:00pm on Wednesday to attend the weekly staff meeting. One hour lunch and 15-minute break.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and highly capable Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about supporting children's learning and achievement across Key Stages 1 and 2. The successful candidate will provide high-quality classroom cover across Years 1 to 6, delivering planned learning with confidence and consistency, while also providing targeted support for pupils in Year 6 to help ensure they make excellent progress and achieve their full potential. This role requires a practitioner with secure subject knowledge, particularly in English and mathematics, who can confidently teach whole classes, adapt learning to meet pupil needs and maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide planned lesson cover across Years 1 to 6.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning in line with school expectations.
  • Support the academic progress and attainment of Year 6 pupils, including targeted interventions.
  • Assess and provide feedback on pupils' learning.
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain a purposeful learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure excellent outcomes for all pupils.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school.

We’re Looking for Someone Who:

  • Is able to uphold our school values of Belonging, Inclusion, Respect, Diversity and Safety.
  • Holds HLTA status or an equivalent qualification and experience.
  • Has a strong understanding of the primary curriculum across Years 1 to 6.
  • Demonstrates secure subject knowledge in English and mathematics.
  • Can confidently lead whole-class learning in the absence of the class teacher.
  • Believes in relational and trauma-informed approaches to behaviour.
  • Can build positive relationships and communicate effectively with pupils, staff and families.
  • Is flexible, organised and able to work effectively across different year groups.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, patience, and a genuine passion for education.
  • Maintains confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the role.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and training.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A relevant qualification (such as HLTA status or Level 4 equivalent) is desirable.
  • A good general standard of education including GCSE English and Maths to Grade C/4 or equivalent.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is essential.
