St Edmund’s is a popular Voluntary Aided secondary school in the heart of Portsmouth and serves a wide area. It is an Outstanding school (Ofsted 2016 and 2022) serving a diverse population. The Governors are seeking to appoint to the following post:

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (REF: HLTA26)

Pay Band 6 £28,239 - £32,061
(£22,340.58 - £25,374.26 Pro Rata)

33.45 hours per week, term time only
8.15am to 4pm (Monday to Friday)
Start Date: October 2026

The candidate will be part of the Learning Support Department.

  • Hold a relevant Level 2 or higher childcare qualification
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE or equivalent, Grade C or above)
  • Good ICT skills would also be desirable
  • At least two years’ experience working with children, preferably within an education setting.
  • The role is term time only.
