Higher Level Teaching Assistant Southampton Primary Schools

GBP100-GBP120 per day

Are you a Higher Level Teaching Assistant who can lead a class and make targeted support count? Reeson Education is recruiting for primary school opportunities across Southampton, Hampshire.

This would suit an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking for flexible supply work or a longer-term assignment combining teaching and classroom support.

Your Role as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant

  • You will deliver prepared lessons during PPA, leadership time, or other agreed cover, alongside one-to-one support and small-group interventions.
  • Lead whole-class learning and maintain clear, consistent expectations.
  • Support reading, writing, and mathematics through focused interventions.
  • Adapt resources and explanations for pupils with SEND or learning gaps.
  • Check understanding and share useful progress feedback with teachers.

What We're Looking For in a Higher Level Teaching Assistant

  • An HLTA qualification or substantial classroom experience appropriate to a Higher Level Teaching Assistant role, including whole-class cover.
  • A Higher Level Teaching Assistant with confident behavior management and the judgement to work independently within school guidance.
  • Strong primary curriculum knowledge and experience supporting individual pupils and groups.
  • Safeguarding awareness and an enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness for one.
