Role Overview
Due to a member of our team gaining NIHR research funding, we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic occupational therapist to join our therapy team.
Responsibilities
This post will include:
- Inpatient rehab
- Critical Care
- Stroke patients
- Cardiothoracic surgery
- Transplantation
The post holder will work closely with other Allied Health Professionals within a multi-disciplinary team model and will need excellent communication and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide highly specialist Occupational Therapy interventions to critical care, transplant, adult cardiothoracic surgery, and cardiology patients within the acute, specialist hospital setting.
- Manage a caseload of patients with highly complex needs, using evidence-based and client-centered principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
- Provide this service with a caseload of complex cases as an autonomous practitioner, demonstrating high-level problem-solving and clinical reasoning skills, and independence in judgment.
- Provide leadership for junior staff, through regular supervision and annual appraisal.
- Contribute to the maintenance and development of the Occupational Therapy Service, and represent the Occupational Therapy service within the Trust.
- Play a major role in the continuous development of the Trust as a member of the Occupational Therapy team and as a potential member of a range of Trust quality/process improvement project groups.
- Work in partnership with the Complex Discharge team ensuring timely and appropriate discharges for patients.
