We're advertising an exciting opportunity for a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist (Band 6 or Band 7 depending on experience) to join our community team on a 12-month secondment to cover maternity leave.
About the Role
We are looking for an innovator who is keen to develop and transform pathways to meet the needs of the changing landscape of Speech and Language Therapy.
The successful candidate will bring specialist knowledge and experience in stammering and selective mutism, supporting the delivery and ongoing development of these pathways as part of our wider paediatric Speech and Language Therapy offer.
Responsibilities
- Provide highly specialist triage, assessment, differential diagnosis, treatment and discharge recommendations to a range of children and young people with speech, language and communication needs.
- Assist in service development and innovation in consultation with managers and other team members.
- Provide highly specialist support via clinical supervision, shadowing, mentoring and second opinions for the members of the team.
- Liaise with the Team Lead about any issues in service delivery and develop plans to manage these.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively with children and families, other team members and health and education staff.
- Lead on service development using your highly specialist knowledge and skills. This will include the development of policies, processes and pathways to enhance quality of patient care, in liaison with the Team Lead.
- Have excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.
- Implement, monitor and evaluate new ways of working, including providing audits/ outcome and progress reports on new workstreams.
- Have strong presentation skills and enjoy delivering training to the wider children’s workforce about a range of communication difficulties, including developing, evaluating and adapting training packages.
