Role Overview
The post holder will be a highly specialist clinician and senior member of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and Respiratory Medicine Physiotherapy Service. Working across both services, they will provide advanced assessment, clinical management, leadership, and service development for adults with highly complex respiratory conditions including cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, severe asthma, interstitial lung disease (ILD), primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD), ventilatory failure, and other specialist respiratory conditions.
Responsibilities
- Work across inpatient, outpatient, day-case, critical care, and virtual settings, supporting the delivery of high-quality specialist physiotherapy services.
- Take a lead role in the planning, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of care, acting as an expert clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement, clinical research, and education.
- Provide clinical supervision and line management support to junior physiotherapists, support staff, and students.
- Work closely with the Adult CF Clinical Specialty Lead, Lung Therapy Lead, and wider multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based patient care.

About the Team
The Adult Lung Therapy Team is a multi-professional therapy team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Dieticians, Psychologists, and Therapy Support Workers. We provide in- and outpatient care to adult patients with complex and chronic respiratory conditions, including asthma, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease, COPD, and neuromuscular conditions.
The Royal Brompton Hospital Adult Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Centre is one of the largest and most advanced CF centres in Europe, providing comprehensive, specialised care to approximately 600 adults living with CF. Physiotherapy is a fundamental component of CF care, and the post-holder will be an integral part of a dynamic, multi-professional therapy team, working closely with fellow AHPs, medical and nursing colleagues. The service is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based healthcare within a supportive and compassionate environment.

About Us
These teams work closely and collaboratively together, and the post holder will work with both teams.
We are part of the Rehab and Therapies Directorate, providing therapy services across all of our hospital sites to the Heart, Lung, and Critical Care (HLCC) clinical group.
