About the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe with a national and international reputation for high quality patient care, research, development and education. As physiotherapists, we are key members of a multidisciplinary team geared to the rehabilitation of patients undergoing surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy in both in and outpatient settings. Oncology provides a challenging environment for developing a number of skills including clinical reasoning, communication and multi-professional working. Ongoing professional training and development is encouraged and supported.

The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced physiotherapist to join the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will share leadership responsibilities for the outpatient physiotherapy service on the Chelsea site. We are looking for an experienced oncology or musculoskeletal physiotherapist with an interest in oncology rehabilitation. You will be supported by senior colleagues, with regular supervision and in-service training.

The Role

Cancer care is a rapidly developing and relatively new area of expertise within physiotherapy.

The Band 7 Physiotherapists take a lead role, alongside the Band 8a Physiotherapist, to provide a high quality, evidence-based outpatient physiotherapy service.

This Band 7 Physiotherapist will share responsibility across the week for leading the outpatient service on the Chelsea site. They will prioritise outpatient referrals, coordinate outpatient appointments, assess patients and treat patients managing physical consequences of cancer and its treatment. They provide a service to this patient group including the use of supported self-management strategies and onward referral.
