Speech and Language Therapy Team Lead - Deafness Pathway
Are you an experienced and motivated Speech and Language Therapist ready to take on a leadership role within a friendly and diverse NHS community paediatric service?
Following new investment funding, we are expanding our service and seeking a motivated Band 7 Speech and Language Therapy Team Lead to develop and lead on our Deafness Pathway in Redbridge. Our current service supports preschool-aged children with deafness, and we are now extending this offer to school-aged children - offering an exciting opportunity to shape and influence service development and delivery.
The Post Will Ideally Suit
- An established Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist seeking a new challenge
- A Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist ready to develop their leadership skills and progress to a Band 7 position.
As part of our friendly and collaborative team, you will deliver a high-quality service to children and young people, aged 0-18 with deafness and a range of speech, language, and communication needs across community, clinic, and education settings. We foster a supportive team culture with regular supervision, peer support, and opportunities for joint working.

Main Duties of the Job
In the Speech and Language Therapy Deafness Pathway, you will:
- Provide clinical and operational leadership for speech and language therapy service delivery for deaf children in Redbridge.
- Deliver highly specialist assessment and intervention for children aged 0-18 years with significant hearing loss in one or both ears.
- Contribute to the effective delivery and development of the service, drawing on clinical expertise and evidence-based practice.
- Work collaboratively with family, education staff, key health and social care professionals, and SEN support services to co-produce effective, integrated approaches that improve communication outcomes for children and young people.
- Champion inclusive practice and early intervention, working proactively to address inequalities and meet the needs of Redbridge's diverse population.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training, and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing, and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High-Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,870 and a maximum payment of £6,137) pro rata for part-time staff.
