Up to £ 50,632 – £ 57,940 DOE

Due to the opening of a new service, an exciting opportunity has become available for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our team!
Cygnet Afon Las is a brand-new service, scheduled to open in April 2027. Located in Corwen, Denbighshire, this 15-bed hospital will provide a neurocognitive service, delivering specialist care and support for men complex neurological conditions alongside psychiatric sequelae. The service will accept referrals from the community, as well as from neurosurgical and neuro-rehabilitation services, offering a pathway for assessment, treatment and recovery in line with Cygnet’s Model of Care. Individuals may be detained under the Mental Health Act and some may have a forensic history.
Job Role
As an SLT in this service, you will be working directly with a specialist caseload of patients with complex needs to assess their speech, communication and language needs (SCLN) as well as eating, drinking and swallowing (EDS) needs. You will work deliver input in line with the Cygnet SLT pathway for neuropsychiatric services. As part of a multi-disciplinary team on-site, you will also work with colleagues across the service to support the implementation of management approaches, upskilling the workforce as required.

You will be part of a company-wide SLT service and as such will have the opportunity to participate in large-scale projects. You will receive high quality supervision and be supported with CPD.
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist with:
- A degree / postgraduate diploma (or equivalent) in Speech and Language Therapy, registration with HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and membership of the RCSLT (Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists)
- Competency to independently assess and manage EDS needs (strongly desired – development and training in this field can be offered if required)
- Experience in the field of neurology and / or neurodegenerative conditions evidenced by high level of clinical SLT knowledge but those with transferable skills will be considered
- Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support with an emphasis on person-centred planning
- Evidence of being a strong team player with a genuine desire to help others
- Excellent communication / time management skills
