Highway Development Management Site Inspector

We're looking for a Highway Development Management Site Inspector to join our team in Brixworth, Northamptonshire.

Are you looking for a role where you can make a real impact on local communities? As a Highway Development Management Site Inspector, you'll be working on a diverse range of residential and commercial developments, helping shape the roads and infrastructure that support new developments across North Northamptonshire and West Northamptonshire.

Location

Brixworth, Northamptonshire – regular site and office attendance required, with some home working available

Hours

Permanent, Full Time, 37.5 hours per week, flexible working options available.

Salary

£42,000 - £50,000 per year + private healthcare + £5,900 annual car allowance + benefits

What will you be responsible for?

As a Highway Development Management Site Inspector, you'll be working with developers, contractors, and local authorities, overseeing the construction of new highways and ensuring works meet the standards required for adoption by the highway authority. It's a varied role combining site inspections, stakeholder engagement, and technical oversight, with the opportunity to influence projects from start to finish.

Your Day-to-day Will Include

  • Inspecting developer and contractor works to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, and legal agreements
  • Identifying non-compliant works, agreeing corrective actions, and monitoring completion
  • Promoting safe working practices and ensuring traffic management requirements are met
  • Working closely with developers, contractors, designers, and technical teams to resolve issues and agree design changes
  • Maintaining accurate inspection records, reports, and project documentation

What are we looking for?

This Highway Development Management Site Inspector role is ideal for someone who:

  • Has experience within civil engineering, highways, construction, or infrastructure, supported by an HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification
  • Understands highway construction and inspection processes, including Section 38 and Section 278 agreements
  • Has knowledge of Safety at Street Works and Road Works and CDM regulations
  • Can effectively manage workloads, priorities, and multiple projects
  • Builds strong relationships through excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
