FM Conway are recruiting Highways Maintenance Operative Apprentices to join our Transport for London Division, working across various projects in Central and South London.

This is a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn, developing practical skills and industry knowledge as you work towards your Level 2 Highways Maintenance Operative qualification. You’ll work alongside experienced members of our site teams, gaining exposure to a wide range of highways and construction maintenance activities while building the foundations for a long-term career in the industry.
This is a full-time, permanent position based from our Beddington Lane depot.
What will you be doing?
As a Highways Maintenance Operative Apprentice, you’ll combine your studies with practical, on-site experience. Your responsibilities will include:
- Working towards your Level 2 Highways Maintenance Operative qualification, developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to succeed in the role.
- Taking responsibility for successfully completing your apprenticeship and achieving your work-related qualifications, including your End Point Assessment.
- Working as part of the site team to deliver highways maintenance works safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Supporting the safe use, storage and maintenance of tools and equipment, reporting any defects to your manager.
- Reporting any incidents, accidents or concerns to your line manager or site management.
- Following instructions from site management and working collaboratively as part of the wider team.

What skills and experience do you need?
You don’t need extensive industry experience to join us, however for this role, it is essential that you hold a full UK Driving License. We’re looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking and keen to build a career in construction.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- A grade 4 or above in GCSE Maths and English.
- A genuine interest in construction and highways.
- Good communication skills.
- The ability to listen, follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
