Our Transport Policy & Research Team plays a key role in helping shape and maintain a safe, sustainable and efficient highway network. Working within Climate Change, Compliance, Planning and Transport Strategy, the team uses data, evidence and asset management principles to support investment decisions, improve infrastructure performance and deliver services that benefit residents, businesses and visitors. As a Highways Asset Technician, you'll provide essential technical support, helping to maintain high-quality asset information and contributing to the effective management of the borough's highway assets.

What you will get to do
- Support the delivery of the Council's transport and highways functions.
- Maintain highway asset inventories, condition data and lifecycle information to support the Highways Asset Management Plan (HAMP).
- Collect, validate and manage asset information relating to carriageways, footways, structures, street lighting and drainage assets.
- Assist with the development and improvement of asset management processes and procedures to enhance service efficiency and consistency.
- Produce reports, summaries and analysis to support maintenance planning, inspections, audits and performance monitoring.
- Respond to highways and transport-related enquiries and complaints in a professional and customer-focused manner.
- Keep up to date with technical, legislative and administrative developments relevant to highways asset management.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and help promote best practice and value for money across the service.
- Contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, customer-focused service.

What You Will Bring
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage and prioritise your workload effectively.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear information and build positive working relationships.
- Good numeracy, literacy and IT skills, with confidence working with data and systems.
- A customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while taking responsibility for achieving results.
- Adaptability, enthusiasm for learning and a willingness to develop new skills and knowledge.
- Educated to Level 2 standard (or equivalent qualification) in English and Mathematics.
