Location: Lynton House, Ilford, IG1

Permanent – Full Time

As soon as people step outside their homes, they experience and rely on the Redbridge highway network.

Do you want to help shape, support, and contribute to the effective management and continuous improvement of Redbridge’s drainage infrastructure and flood risk management activities, ensuring our communities remain resilient, protected, and well-prepared for future challenges? Our aim is to reduce flood risk, manage water effectively, and support a safe and sustainable environment for residents, businesses, and visitors across the borough.

Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse, and forward-thinking east London borough committed to providing high-quality services and safe infrastructure for our residents. We continue to deliver innovative approaches to managing and improving our network, supporting the Council’s wider transformation programme. This is an important and dynamic time for the London Borough of Redbridge, and our Highways and Flood Risk teams play a central role in protecting communities and maintaining resilient infrastructure throughout the borough.

We are seeking a committed Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer to support the effective management, maintenance, and improvement of Redbridge’s drainage assets and flood risk functions. Working within a professional and supportive team, you will help investigate flooding issues, manage drainage and watercourse assets, analyse technical data, coordinate maintenance and improvement programmes, review development proposals, and contribute to the delivery of flood risk management strategies across the borough. This role offers a varied mix of technical, administrative, and site-based responsibilities, providing opportunities to develop your knowledge of drainage engineering, sustainable drainage systems, flood investigations, asset management, and industry best practice. If you are motivated, detail-focused, and passionate about protecting communities from flood risk while delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions, this role provides an excellent platform for professional growth.
