Job Role
We are seeking a Highways Inspector to join our team covering Central London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a highways, construction, utilities, civil engineering or operational background, or for an individual looking to build a long-term career within the highways sector. As a Highways Inspector, you'll be responsible for carrying out scheduled inspections across London's highway network, identifying defects, recording findings, and ensuring assets meet required safety and operational standards.
Working independently, you'll travel directly from home to your allocated inspection route and complete foot-based inspections across Central London using company-provided technology.
Duties
- Conduct routine highway inspections across Central London.
- Identify and record defects, safety issues and maintenance requirements.
- Capture photographic evidence and upload inspection data using a smartphone or tablet.
- Complete detailed reports accurately and efficiently.
- Carry out inspections on foot, covering approximately 6-8km per route.
- Adhere to all health, safety and operational procedures.
- Undertake occasional driven inspections using a company vehicle.

Person Specification
- A full UK driving licence.
- The ability to work independently and confidently as a lone worker.
- Good IT skills and confidence using mobile devices and apps.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- The physical capability to walk significant distances daily in all weather conditions.
- Previous highways, construction, utilities or operational experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
