Highways Maintenance Operative Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Area 10 team based at Preston Brook Depot, Chesnut Lodge, Preston Brook, Runcorn, Cheshire, WA7 3AT.
Working with National Highways, Amey maintains and operates the strategic road network across the North West. As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you will play a key role in delivering routine and reactive maintenance activities, helping to keep customers moving safely and efficiently across the network.

The salary is competitive (please enquire for further details).
Working Hours:
The standard hours of work are 12-hour shifts on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern, including days, nights, weekends, and participation in winter maintenance and emergency response activities.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Delivering routine and reactive highway maintenance works.
- Installing, maintaining, and removing traffic management.
- Carrying out repairs to safety barriers, signs, fences, drainage systems, and carriageways.
- Undertaking vegetation management and environmental maintenance activities.
- Operating vehicles, plant, and equipment in accordance with training and company procedures.
- Supporting incident response and emergency call-out activities across the Area 10 network.
- Working safely and complying with all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Completing work records and defect reporting accurately and in a timely manner.
- Contributing to a positive safety culture and delivering excellent customer service.

What We Are Looking For:
We want to hear from you if you have:
- Experience working within highways maintenance, construction, utilities, or a similar operational environment.
- A strong commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- A flexible approach to shift working and emergency response requirements.
- A full UK Driving Licence.
Ideally, You Will Also Have:
- Previous highways maintenance experience.
- Traffic Management qualifications.
- NHSS qualifications.
- Winter Maintenance experience.
- HGV/LGV Licence.
- Street Works qualifications.
- Plant operation certificates.
