Job Title: Highways Operative
Base Location: Nottingham (NG6)
Salary: £25,948 - plus a range of other benefits to support your family, finances, and wellbeing.
Working Pattern: Full Time (37 Hours), Monday – Thursday 7am-3pm, Friday 7am-2.30pm. Seasonal Overtime available for those who want it.

With expertise in lighting design, installation, project management, maintenance, and the integration of smart technologies, we manage over one million street lights across the UK and help towns and cities become safer, smarter, greener, and more efficient.

What will I be doing in this role?
In this role, you'll play an important part in keeping our roads safe and well maintained. You'll be responsible for the routine cleaning and maintenance of a range of highway assets, including illuminated bollards, signs, and street lighting, helping to ensure they remain safe, operational, and looking their best.
The work you do will directly support our commitments to our clients and the communities we serve, making a real difference to the experience and safety of road users every day.
In a typical day, you could expect to be:
- Carrying out the washing and cleaning of illuminated bollards in line with planned maintenance schedules, ensuring work is completed safely and on time.
- Removing stickers, graffiti, and posters from highway assets to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for road users and pedestrians.
- Supporting operational teams with the installation of new street lighting and highway assets through general laboring duties when required.
- Delivering an excellent service to our clients, customers, and members of the public at all times.
- Working in accordance with strict health, safety, and environmental standards, policies, and regulations.

What do I need to be successful in the role?
- You'll be comfortable carrying out the cleaning and maintenance of street lighting and highway equipment to a high standard, taking pride in the quality of your work.
- We work in all weathers, so you'll need to enjoy working outdoors and be happy working in a physically active role throughout the year.
- A full UK Driving Licence is essential, as you'll be traveling to a variety of locations across our contract areas.
- You'll have a positive attitude, be willing to learn, and be able to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- You'll be committed to working safely and following the procedures and regulations that help keep both you and the public safe.
Some of our ‘nice to haves’ are;
- Previous experience in a laboring, highways, construction, or civils environment would be beneficial, although full training can be provided for the right candidate.
- Experience of working outdoors or in a physically demanding role would be an advantage.
- An understanding of health and safety requirements when working on or near the highway would be helpful, but isn't essential.
