Warwickshire County Council is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Apprentice Highways Systems and Data Officer to join our Highway Systems Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop a career in digital systems, data analysis and technology while earning a salary and working towards a recognised Level 3 Data Essentials Apprenticeship qualification.
As part of the team, you will help support the digital systems and technology that keep Warwickshire's highway network operating effectively. You will gain valuable hands-on experience working with data, supporting business-critical systems, producing reports, identifying opportunities for improvement and helping deliver innovative digital solutions across County Highways.
You won't just be learning from the sidelines. You will be actively involved in real projects that support highway inspections, maintenance, asset management and customer service delivery, helping to improve services for residents across Warwickshire.
This role provides an excellent foundation for a future career in data analysis, systems administration, digital transformation, business intelligence or business improvement.
About The Team
The Highway Systems Team provides the digital systems, data and technology solutions that support the delivery of highway services across Warwickshire.
Working closely with colleagues across County Highways, including Delivery, Locality, Network Management and Asset Management teams, the service plays a vital role in maintaining accurate data, supporting operational decision-making and driving continuous improvement through technology and innovation.
The team is responsible for supporting and developing key highways systems, improving data quality, delivering reporting and business intelligence, and identifying opportunities to make services more efficient and effective.
What You'll Be Doing
As an Apprentice Highways Systems and Data Officer, you will:
- Support the administration and maintenance of highways systems and applications.
- Help investigate and resolve routine system issues.
- Produce reports and performance information using highways data.
- Assist with data quality improvement initiatives and data validation activities.
- Analyse information to identify trends and opportunities for service improvement.
- Support system testing, upgrades and new functionality implementations.
- Help document business processes, user guidance and system procedures.
- Assist with digital transformation projects and system integrations.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders across the service.
- Provide support and guidance to system users.
- Develop practical skills in data analysis, business processes, digital technologies and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For
No previous experience is required. We're looking for someone who is:
- Interested in technology, systems, data and problem-solving.
- Keen to learn new skills and develop professionally.
- Organised and able to manage their own workload.
- A confident communicator, both verbally and in writing.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications and email.
- Positive, enthusiastic and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Committed to completing the apprenticeship programme.
Essential Requirements
- GCSE Maths Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent Level 2 qualification).
- Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and standard IT applications.
- Ability to organise work and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to completing the Level 3 Data Essentials Apprenticeship.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Ability to travel to work locations and training venues as required.

This position is aligned to the Level 3 Data Essentials Apprenticeship delivered by QA.
Throughout the apprenticeship, you will receive structured training and support while gaining practical workplace experience within County Highways. You will develop valuable skills in:
