Role Description

The Hire Controller is responsible for managing the daily hire operations, including handling customer enquiries, processing bookings, and coordinating the delivery and collection of plant and tools. This full-time, on-site role based in Wokingham involves maintaining accurate hire records, monitoring equipment availability, and ensuring efficient scheduling to meet client timelines. The Hire Controller will liaise with workshop and transport teams, provide quotes, prepare hire documentation, and resolve any issues related to equipment or service. The role also includes maintaining strong relationships with customers, promoting suitable hire solutions, and supporting a safe and organized hire desk environment.

  • Experience in hire desk, customer service, or operations in plant, tool, or construction equipment environments.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with a wide range of clients and colleagues.
  • Good organizational and time-management abilities, including managing multiple bookings, schedules, and priorities accurately.
  • Competence in using computer systems for booking, inventory, and basic reporting; familiarity with hire or Syrinx software is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of plant and tool equipment types and typical site requirements, or willingness to learn quickly.
  • Attention to detail when preparing documentation, entering data, and checking hire agreements and delivery instructions.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving customer queries and operational challenges.
  • Previous experience in construction, plant hire, logistics, or a related industry is advantageous but not essential.
  • Reliable and punctual, with the ability to work on-site in Wokingham on a full-time basis.
