Role Description
The Hire Controller is a full-time, on-site role based in Rusper, responsible for managing the daily coordination of equipment rentals and related services. This role involves handling customer inquiries by phone and email, preparing hire quotations, processing bookings, and arranging transport and delivery schedules for the forklift fleet. The Hire Controller maintains accurate records of hire contracts, equipment availability, and usage, while liaising with technicians and the operations team to ensure timely servicing, breakdown response, and equipment readiness. The role also includes updating internal systems, monitoring stock levels, and supporting racking and training bookings where required. The successful candidate will contribute to a smooth, efficient hire operation and provide professional, customer-focused support to new and existing clients.

Qualifications
- Experience in hire desk, rental coordination, or similar operations roles, with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Customer service and communication skills, including professional telephone manner, clear written communication, and the ability to build positive client relationships.
- Basic administrative and IT skills, such as data entry, use of hire or CRM systems, email management, and competency with common office software.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities, including accurate record-keeping, scheduling, and the capacity to manage conflicting priorities calmly.
- Knowledge of material handling equipment, forklift operations, or related industrial sectors is beneficial, as is familiarity with racking, inspections, or PAT testing.
- Ability to work effectively on-site within a small, collaborative team, demonstrating reliability, flexibility, and a focus on safety and compliance.
- Previous experience in a logistics, transport, or service-based environment and a full driving license are advantageous.
