Job Introduction

Why You'll Love Working Here

Looking for a customer service role with a predictable working week? At Groundforce, our Hire Desk operates Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with no evening shifts, no weekend working (apart from two Saturday stock takes each year) and Bank Holidays off.

As a Hire Controller, you will be the key point of contact for customers, helping them hire the right equipment, preparing quotations, coordinating deliveries with depots and transport teams, and ensuring every hire runs smoothly. Working as part of a supportive team, you will build relationships, solve problems and deliver excellent customer service.

Whether you have experience in plant hire, customer service, logistics, transport, builders' merchants, construction, manufacturing or sales support, we can provide the training and development to help you succeed. Due to the office location and 8:00am start time, candidates should ideally be based in or around Morley, with access to a car and a full driving licence beneficial.

What makes this role different?

  • Monday-Friday working (8:00am-5:00pm)
  • No evening shifts
  • No weekend working (other than two Saturday stock takes each year)
  • Bank Holidays off
  • Full training provided
  • Genuine career progression within Groundforce and the wider Vp Group
  • Join the UK's market leader in specialist construction equipment hire

Key Responsibilities

Every day will be different, but you'll be responsible for:

  • Delivering outstanding customer service by telephone and email.
  • Processing equipment hire and off-hire requests accurately using our hire management system.
  • Preparing quotations and helping customers find the best solution for their projects.
  • Coordinating deliveries, collections and equipment exchanges with our operational depots and transport teams.
  • Building strong working relationships with customers and internal colleagues.
  • Keeping customers informed throughout the hire process and resolving any issues professionally.
  • Maintaining accurate customer and hire records.
  • Monitoring equipment availability and supporting efficient stock utilisation.
  • Taking ownership of customer enquiries from initial contact through to resolution.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve team and business objectives.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
