Hire Controller Opportunity at JP Rentals
We have an exciting opportunity for a Hire Controller to join our team at JP Rentals, based at our Grangemouth Depot.
This role is central to our rental operations - coordinating logistics, supporting customers, and ensuring every hire runs smoothly from start to finish. Your ability to communicate effectively, stay organised, and deliver outstanding service will be key to our continued success.
How You’ll Make An Impact
In this customer-facing and operationally important role, you’ll help keep everything running efficiently by:
- Acting as the first point of contact for hire enquiries, providing clear, friendly, and professional communication
- Converting enquiries into confirmed hire agreements that meet both customer needs and business objectives
- Working closely with the Rentals Manager and Depot Manager to support daily operations and escalate service issues where necessary
- Coordinating the timely delivery and collection of hire vehicles and equipment
- Supporting breakdown processes by liaising with internal teams, third-party suppliers, and manufacturers to ensure swift resolutions
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, including hire documentation, customer charges, and general administrative duties
- Handling off-hire notifications and processing returns to ensure a smooth customer offboarding experience
- Providing exceptional service throughout the hire process, while maximising asset utilisation and commercial return

What Makes You a Good Fit For This Role
You’re someone who thrives on staying organised, keeping things moving, and delivering a great customer experience from first contact to final handover. To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
- Experience in a similar hire desk, rental coordination, or customer service role
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, with a sharp eye for detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - clear, friendly, and confident
- The ability to stay calm under pressure and adapt to changing demands
- Solid IT skills, especially in Microsoft Teams, Word, and Excel
- A proactive attitude and an eagerness to grow your understanding of fleet operations and hire service
