Job Title: Hire Desk Assistant

Location: St Neots

Select Plant Hire is looking for a Hire Desk Administrator/Assistant to join our Powered Access team based in St Neots.

This is a busy and varied role that plays an important part in supporting the day-to-day operation of the hire desk. You'll be responsible for a range of administrative and operational tasks, helping to ensure equipment, systems and customer requests are managed efficiently and accurately.

From processing damage charges and logging breakdowns to setting up new assets and supporting customer enquiries, no two days are the same. We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has great attention to detail and can adapt quickly when priorities change.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing part of the business and develop your knowledge of the plant hire industry.

What will the role look like?

  • Supporting the day-to-day administration of the Powered Access hire desk
  • Raising hire contracts and associated documentation
  • Processing damage charges and maintaining accurate records
  • Logging equipment breakdowns and ensuring information is updated correctly within internal systems
  • Setting up new assets and maintaining accurate fleet records
  • Assisting with customer enquiries and preparing quotations when required
  • Monitoring shared inboxes and responding to queries in a timely manner
  • Providing administrative support across the wider team
  • Maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail across all tasks
  • Building strong working relationships with colleagues, suppliers and customers
  • Occasionally visiting sites to support stakeholder relationships and gain a better understanding of operations

What skills and experience are we looking for?

  • Previous administration, coordination or hire desk experience would be beneficial
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Strong IT skills and confidence using multiple systems
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly
  • Able to manage a varied workload and switch between tasks when required
  • A proactive and organised approach to work
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • A reliable team player with a positive attitude
  • A full UK driving licence would be advantageous
  • Experience within plant hire, logistics, construction, equipment rental or a similar industry would be beneficial but is not essential
