Hire Desk Controller – Croydon

Location: Croydon, South London

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Hire Desk Controller to join our busy team based in Croydon.

As a Hire Desk Controller, you'll play a key role in supporting our customers and ensuring the smooth running of our day-to-day hire operations.

You'll be responsible for managing hire enquiries, processing orders and working closely with our operational teams to ensure customers receive the right equipment, at the right time, with the excellent service they expect from Speedy.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing customer hire enquiries, bookings, extensions and off-hires.
  • Providing excellent customer service by telephone, email and through our internal systems.
  • Processing hire orders, quotations and associated documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Working closely with depots and operational teams to coordinate equipment availability, deliveries and collections.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Identifying opportunities to maximise hire revenue and support business growth.
  • Resolving customer queries and ensuring issues are dealt with promptly and professionally.
  • Maintaining accurate customer records and hire information.
  • Supporting the wider team to achieve service levels and operational targets.
  • Ensuring compliance with company procedures and promoting safe working practices.

What We're Looking For

We're Looking For Someone Who Has

  • Previous experience in a customer service, hire desk, sales administration or similar role.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to build relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive, positive and solutions-focused approach.
  • Good attention to detail and confidence using computer systems.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of the importance of delivering great customer service.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Experience within the plant, tool or equipment hire industry would be beneficial, but isn't essential. We're just as interested in your attitude, transferable skills and willingness to learn.
