Hire Controllers – Permanent & Fixed-Term Opportunities

Location: Basildon

Contract: Permanent & 12-Month Fixed-Term Contracts available

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 17:00 (42 hours per week)

Join Speedy – we’re growing our Basildon team!

We’re looking for Hire Controllers to join our team in Basildon, with both permanent and 12-month fixed-term opportunities available for an ASAP start.

If you’re great with customers, organised, enjoy working in a busy environment and like being part of a team where no two days are the same, we’d love to hear from you.

You don’t necessarily need previous hire industry experience. If you have a background in customer service, sales, coordination or a fast-paced operational environment, and you’re keen to learn, we can help you build your career with Speedy.


What will you be doing?

As a Hire Controller, you’ll be right at the heart of our depot operation, helping make sure our customers get the equipment they need, when and where they need it.

You’ll Be

  • Managing customer enquiries and hire orders from start to finish.
  • Building great relationships with customers and delivering excellent service.
  • Coordinating equipment availability, deliveries and collections.
  • Working closely with our drivers, engineers and wider depot team.
  • Resolving customer queries quickly and professionally.
  • Keeping hire information and system records accurate and up to date.
  • Helping the team maximise equipment utilisation and achieve depot targets.
  • Supporting the delivery of Speedy’s ESG Strategy – Decade to Deliver.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is positive, proactive and customer-focused and enjoys working as part of a busy team.

Ideally, You’ll Bring

  • Experience in the hire industry, customer service, sales or a similar operational environment.
  • Great communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisation and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach to problems.
  • Confidence using IT systems.
  • A willingness to learn and develop.
  • A full UK driving licence.
