Main Purpose of the Role
Aerial Platforms Limited (APL), a Centurion Company, are looking for a commercially minded Hire Desk Controller with a passion for sales, who can manage customer enquiries, identify sales opportunities, coordinate hires efficiently, and deliver outstanding customer service while contributing to business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer focused to deliver a high-quality customer service by ensuring customer telephone and email queries and orders are dealt with efficiently and effectively.
- Dealing with Customer Hire Quotations recommending suitable products based upon the customers’ requirements.
- Ensure on-time, high-quality, and accurate delivery against customer orders.
- Administer and liaise with the client to ensure that all customer needs are met and maximize opportunities where possible.
- Negotiating hire prices with customers/suppliers while following up on quotations.
- Monitor fleet availability and assist in maximizing utilisation across the business.
- Processing all hire paperwork relating to customer orders.
- Communicating with other departments including transport/engineering/sales and accounts team.
- Arranging the delivery and collection of equipment.
- Maintaining accurate stock records through IT systems and ensuring weekly stock take is accurate.
- Liaising with national suppliers/building relationships.
- Supporting other departments as and where necessary.
- Promote additional services and consumables e.g. Harnesses, Hire Accessories, Maintenance etc.
- Undertake tasks and projects as agreed that are in line with the job delivery requirements.
- Develops product knowledge.

Knowledge and Qualifications

- Educated to HNC, SVQ Level 3 or similar in a technical or sales-related subject (desirable).
- Good knowledge and understanding of procurement processes and project demands for a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of IT systems such as Microsoft and Excel.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organisation and time management skills, particularly when dealing with conflicting priorities.
- Experience of fast-paced rental industry or related business (essential).
- Powered Access technical knowledge and experience (desirable).
