Hiring: Kafka Admin Lead
Role Title: Kafka Admin Lead
Employment Type: Contract
Location: London
We are looking for an experienced Kafka Admin Lead to manage and optimize enterprise-scale Kafka and Confluent Platform environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Kafka administration, platform engineering, cloud networking, automation, security, and observability while ensuring highly available, secure, and scalable streaming platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Provision, configure, and administer Apache Kafka clusters (KRaft and ZooKeeper-based).
- Manage Confluent Platform components including Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, ksqlDB, REST Proxy, and Control Center.
- Administer Confluent Cloud environments, clusters, RBAC, networking, and audit logs.
- Ensure high availability across multi-AZ and multi-region deployments.
- Perform Kafka upgrades, patching, backup, and disaster recovery with minimal downtime.
- Implement authentication, authorization, encryption, and secret management.
- Monitor Kafka performance, consumer lag, broker health, JVM tuning, and infrastructure metrics.
- Optimize partitioning strategies, replication, retention, throughput, and storage.
- Automate Kafka infrastructure using Terraform, Helm, and GitOps.
- Administer Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, streaming applications, and cloud connectivity.
- Collaborate with DevOps, SRE, Infrastructure, and Development teams to deliver reliable streaming platforms.
