An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Histopathologist to join a highly regarded Cellular Pathology department in the East of England.
The successful applicant will join a large consultant team operating within an oligo-specialist model, with opportunities to develop expertise in two or three subspecialties while contributing to a comprehensive Histopathology service. Particular interest is welcomed in Paediatric & Perinatal Pathology, Dermatopathology and GI Pathology, although applicants with other subspecialty interests are also encouraged to apply.

Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Deliver Consultant-led Histopathology reporting across a broad range of surgical pathology specimens.
- Participate in an oligo-specialist reporting model, contributing to two or three pathology subspecialties.
- Develop and maintain specialist expertise aligned with departmental service requirements.
- Report routine and complex Histopathology cases using digital pathology and voice-recognition reporting systems.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and provide specialist pathological advice to clinical colleagues.
- Perform and interpret histopathological examinations in accordance with Royal College of Pathologists standards.
- Contribute to Cytopathology, autopsy services or other specialist services where appropriate.
- Support laboratory quality assurance, clinical governance and accreditation standards.
- Participate in departmental audit, external quality assurance and quality improvement programmes.
- Contribute to research, innovation and translational pathology projects.
- Supervise and train Speciality Registrars, Biomedical Scientists, Advanced Practitioners and laboratory staff.
- Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
- Maintain accurate pathology reporting and comply with GMC and Royal College professional standards.
- Contribute to departmental service planning, innovation and continuous improvement.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Registration
Essential
- MBBS, MBChB or equivalent recognised medical qualification.
- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise.
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Histopathology (or eligible within six months of interview).
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or within six months of award, or equivalent overseas specialist qualification.
- FRCPath or equivalent.
Desirable
- Qualification or specialist training in Paediatric/Perinatal Pathology.
- Additional postgraduate qualifications relevant to Histopathology.
Experience
Essential
- Broad specialist training and experience in Histopathology.
- Previous NHS experience or equivalent recognised specialist training.
- Experience reporting a wide range of Histopathology specimens.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience participating in clinical governance and audit.
- Experience supervising trainees and laboratory staff.
- Experience contributing to service development and quality improvement.

Desirable
