History Graduate (History Teaching Assistant)

An Ofsted 'Outstanding' secondary school in Hammersmith & Fulham is searching for a bright History Graduate (History Teaching Assistant) to fill an exciting post ASAP. This is a full time & term time only role, with scope for teacher training in September 2027.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an intelligent and switched-on History Graduate (History Teaching Assistant) who is contemplating pursuing a career in teaching to gain that crucial classroom experience before committing to a PGCE.

What will this History Graduate (History Teaching Assistant) role involve?

  • Supervising classes across KS3, KS4 and potentially KS5 in the absence of the class teacher
  • Delivering pre-planned lessons across a variety of Secondary subjects
  • Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining high expectations throughout lessons
  • Ensuring pupils remain engaged, focused and completing the work provided
  • Supporting students on a 1:1 and small-group basis where required
  • Providing additional academic support and intervention for pupils who require it
  • Working closely with Teachers, Heads of Department and the wider pastoral team
  • Developing strong classroom management, communication and leadership skills
  • Gaining invaluable Secondary School experience ahead of potential Teacher Training

The Head Teacher is committed to ensuring that all his Graduate Teaching Assistants are confident within the role and so offers extensive in-house training to all support staff.

JOB DESCRIPTION

History Graduate (History Teaching Assistant)

  • Degree educated or strong academic background preferred
  • Previous experience working with young people is desirable but not essential
  • Confident, enthusiastic and personable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent behaviour management potential
  • Ability to build positive relationships with Secondary-aged pupils
  • Must be resilient, proactive and comfortable taking responsibility for a classroom
  • Genuine passion for education and supporting young people
  • Aspiring Secondary Teachers are strongly encouraged to apply
