The HIV Service
The HIV Service is seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 5 Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality, patient-centred care to people living with HIV across outpatient, community, and outreach settings.
About the Role
Working alongside Specialist Nurses, Medical Staff, Sexual Health colleagues, and external partners, you will deliver clinical assessments, treatment support, health promotion, and ongoing monitoring, helping patients to manage their condition and achieve the best possible health outcomes. The role includes vaccination and immunisation programmes, phlebotomy, blood monitoring clinics, administration of long-acting injectable HIV therapies, and responding to urgent clinical queries.
The post holder will also support home visits, community clinics, and outreach activities, working with vulnerable and hard-to-reach populations to improve access to care and reduce health inequalities.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertaking clinical assessments
- Monitoring patients receiving HIV treatment
- Supporting medication adherence
- Promoting self-management and health education
- Contributing to the delivery of evidence-based care
- Playing an active role in vaccination and immunisation programmes, phlebotomy, and blood monitoring clinics
- Administering long-acting injectable HIV therapies
- Responding to urgent clinical queries
- Maintaining accurate clinical records
- Participating in safeguarding processes
- Supporting national HIV monitoring and retention-in-care standards
- Delivering care within community and outreach settings, including home visits, nurse-led community clinics, and engagement activities aimed at improving access to services for vulnerable and hard-to-reach populations

Additional Requirements
- Participating in service development, quality improvement initiatives, audit activities, and ongoing professional development to enhance specialist knowledge and skills in HIV, Sexual Health, and Community Nursing
- Flexibility, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively across a range of clinical and community environments
