Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Rochdale
Contract: Temporary
Hours: Full-time
Pay: £130-£140 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Expected End Date: Ongoing
About The Role
Educato Limited is seeking experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work across a range of welcoming and inclusive primary schools in Rochdale. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident education professional who is passionate about supporting pupils' learning and development while taking on increased classroom responsibilities.
As an HLTA, you will work closely with teachers to support high-quality teaching and learning across the school. You will be expected to deliver planned lessons during teacher release time, provide targeted interventions, support pupils with varying abilities, and contribute to raising attainment across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. You may also support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping to create an inclusive learning environment where every child can succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
- Support teaching and learning across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
- Lead small group and whole-class learning activities.
- Deliver targeted interventions to improve pupil progress.
- Provide support for pupils with SEND, adapting learning where required.
- Work collaboratively with teachers to assess pupil progress and provide feedback.
- Promote positive behaviour and support pupils' emotional wellbeing.
- Assist in the planning, preparation, and organisation of classroom resources.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

The Successful Applicant Will
- Hold HLTA status or a recognised Level 4 HLTA qualification (or have substantial experience in a similar role).
- Have previous experience working within a primary school setting.
- Be confident leading whole-class learning and covering lessons independently.
- Have a strong understanding of the primary curriculum.
- Be experienced in delivering interventions to raise pupil attainment.
- Be adaptable, organised, and proactive in supporting teaching and learning.
- Have excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
- Have the right to work in the UK and be available to work full-time.

Desirable
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs.
- Level 3 or Level 4 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification.
- Experience delivering phonics and intervention programmes.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification.
- Team Teach or equivalent positive behaviour support training.

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check (Child Workforce), satisfactory references, and full compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2025 guidance and safer recruitment standards. Overseas police checks may be required where applicable.
