HLTA / Cover Supervisor - SEND Experience

About The Role
SEND Inclusion Support are looking for an experienced HLTA / Cover Supervisor to join a valued partner school in Newbury.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced education professional who is confident leading learning in the absence of the class teacher and, importantly, has a strong understanding of supporting pupils with SEND.
We are looking for someone who can provide consistency, maintain positive behaviour and ensure pupils remain engaged with their learning when covering lessons.
The Role
You will support the school by delivering planned learning and providing cover across different classes and year groups.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Supervising pupils during teacher absence.
- Delivering pre-prepared lessons and learning activities.
- Supporting pupils with SEND to access the planned learning.
- Adapting your approach where appropriate to meet individual needs.
- Maintaining positive behaviour and clear expectations.
- Building positive relationships with pupils.
- Supporting pupils who may require additional reassurance, structure or regulation.
- Working alongside teachers and support staff.
- Providing feedback to teaching staff following sessions.
- Supporting the wider school team when required.
- Maintaining a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment.

About You
This role would suit an experienced HLTA, Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant or experienced SEND professional who is confident working across a school environment.
You Will Ideally Have
- HLTA, Cover Supervisor or equivalent experience.
- Strong experience working with pupils with SEND.
- Confidence leading a class in the absence of the teacher.
- Good classroom and behaviour management skills.
- The ability to follow lesson plans while adapting your approach where needed.
- A calm, confident and consistent manner.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships quickly.
- A genuine commitment to inclusive education.

SEND experience is particularly important for this role, and we would welcome applications from candidates who have worked in specialist, mainstream SEND, SEMH, autism or alternative provision settings.
