Position: Temporary Head of Department MFL and Teacher of French

Location: MFL Department

Job Overview

St Mary’s School is seeking a Teacher of French to work in our MFL Department and to cover the maternity leave for the Head of Department. Therefore, for the right candidate, there may be an opportunity to take on the lead role in the MFL Department.

Responsibilities

  • Join a team of committed, enthusiastic Teachers who are passionate about the importance of Language Learning.
  • Teach French up to and including A Level.
  • Contribute to the department’s trips to France and Spain.
  • Encourage students to complete work experience abroad.
  • Utilize good ICT skills to enhance learning throughout the curriculum.
  • Participate in marketing the school and attending Open events, the annual evening Carol Service, and Prize Giving.
  • Engage in the co-curricular life of the school to develop relationships with students and their parents.

Department Details

  • Languages Offered: French and Spanish at A Level, French in Key Stage 3, Spanish in Year 8, and as options at GCSE.
  • Current Courses: Edexcel GCSE and A level courses.
  • Success: Proven track record of success at GCSE and A level.
  • Extracurricular Activities: Language clubs, pen friend system, and European Day of Languages celebrations.
