Delivery Driver (3.5 Tonnes Van) – Sainsbury’s, Cromwell Rd (SW7 4EJ)

Location: Kensington Store & delivery areas in Central London


Eligibility

This role is based at our Cromwell Rd store (SW7 4EJ).

  • You must live within a 1-hour commute of the store (essential for continuation of your application).
  • Able to travel within 45 minutes to meet work commitments.
  • Full licence to drive (passed proficiency test) and confidence in manoeuvring larger vehicles required due to deliveries across Central London.
  • Must be comfortable with heavy lifting.
  • Ready for full flexibility—shift times range from 06:30–23:00, including weekends, depending on customer bookings and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Core Deliveries

  • Drive a 3.5-tonne van to deliver groceries on-time and safely to customers’ doorsteps.
  • Perform pre‐delivery checks, including:
    • Ensuring the van is organised, clean, and roadworthy.
    • Securing delivery cases properly before driving.
    • Operating safely in varied conditions (e.g., busy streets, narrow lanes).

Customer Service

  • Serve customers with friendliness, enthusiasm, and problem-solving skills.
  • Respond to customer queries, substitutions, and delays proactively.
  • Update customers on delivery statuses efficiently.

Store Contribution

  • Complete counts, stock tasks, and general store assistance as needed.

  • Follow drive‐time regulations, rest breaks, and road safety guidelines.
  • Handle shipping containers up to 15kg per trip confidently.

Key Skills

  • Experience in hygiene and organisation (e.g., food delivery, retail, logistics) a plus.
  • Ability to use digital tools (ERP systems, van GPS/telematics).
  • Strong technology literacy for order management and route optimisation.
