3 months Contract with a Local Authority

Job Purpose
As an Elective Home Education Support Officer, you will support the Local Authority in monitoring and reviewing the suitability of education provided to children who are educated at home. You will work with parents, schools, and education professionals to ensure that children receive an appropriate education and that statutory responsibilities relating to Elective Home Education (EHE) are met.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Support the Elective Home Education Officer in assessing the suitability of home education provision.
- Contact parents of home-educated children and young people.
- Review educational provision and identify where support or intervention may be required.
- Provide advice and guidance to parents regarding home education requirements.
- Signpost families to relevant support services and resources.
- Produce written feedback and maintain accurate case records.
- Assess whether children are receiving suitable educational provision.
- Refer complex or unsuitable education cases to the EHE Officer.
- Assist with the initiation of School Attendance Orders where appropriate.
- Support statutory and regulatory duties relating to Elective Home Education.
- Work with schools regarding EHE referrals and concerns relating to illegal off-rolling.
- Liaise with schools, parents, and partner agencies to ensure educational standards are maintained.
- Maintain accurate documentation and case management records.
- Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified and escalated appropriately.

Essential Experience Required
- Experience working with children, young people, and families.
- Experience within Education, Children's Services, Attendance, Inclusion, Welfare, or Family Support.
- Experience providing advice, guidance, and support to families.
- Experience maintaining accurate case records and reports.
- Experience working with schools and education professionals.
- Good understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
- Experience managing sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to assess information and make appropriate recommendations.
- Experience working independently and managing workloads effectively.

Essential Qualifications Required
- Relevant experience within Education, Children's Services, Family Support, Attendance, Welfare, or related services.
- Right to Work in the UK.
Additional Information to Note
- Working hours: 35 hours per week.
- Location: The Woolwich Centre, Royal Borough of Greenwich.
- We work on bi-weekly payment schedule.
