Role Description
The Home Health Care Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Barrow-In-Furness. The role involves providing person-centered home care, including assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility. The Home Health Care Assistant supports service users with personal care, medication reminders (where appropriate), meal preparation, and light household tasks to promote safety and comfort at home.

- Monitoring and documenting the individual’s condition
- Reporting concerns to appropriate clinical or supervisory staff
- Following care plans and procedures
The role requires building trusting relationships through clear communication, respecting individual choices, and contributing to a positive, supportive environment for service users and colleagues.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Home Care and Personal Care skills, with experience supporting individuals in their own homes.
- Candidates should possess skills in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including assistance with mobility, hygiene, nutrition, and routine tasks.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to interact with service users, families, and multidisciplinary teams in a clear and respectful manner.
- Candidates should possess Patient Care skills, including observation, accurate reporting of changes in condition, and adherence to care plans.
- Relevant qualifications such as NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) are beneficial.
- Experience in home care, community care, or similar support roles is advantageous.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, and to travel to service users within Barrow-In-Furness.
- Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, and promoting dignity, independence, and choice for all service users.
