Home Manager (Maternity Cover)
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Home Manager (Maternity Cover) to lead the day-to-day operations of our Nursing Home. This fixed-term opportunity is ideal for an experienced care professional who is passionate about delivering outstanding resident care while supporting and developing a high-performing team.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in elderly care, nursing homes, and dementia services. As Home Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of care, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting staff development, and creating a safe, welcoming environment for residents, families, and colleagues.
While this role is initially a 12-month fixed-term contract, there may be potential for it to become a permanent position within Kara Healthcare for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care and resident wellbeing.
- Lead, motivate, and support a multidisciplinary team, fostering a positive and professional working culture.
- Ensure person-centred care plans are developed, implemented, and regularly reviewed to meet residents' changing needs.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant legislation, CQC regulations, and company policies.
- Monitor quality standards and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support staff development through recruitment, supervision, training, and performance management.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure excellence in care delivery.
- Manage occupancy levels and build positive relationships with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and the local community.
- Oversee budgets and resources to ensure the effective operation of the service.
- Work closely with senior management to ensure a smooth and successful maternity cover period.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Home Manager, Deputy Manager, or Senior Manager within a nursing home or residential care environment.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Sound knowledge of elderly care, dementia care, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience managing care quality, compliance, audits, and inspections.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A compassionate and resident-focused approach to care.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- An active NMC Pin (preferred if managing a nursing service).
