£80,000 – £90,000 per annum + Up to 40% Annual Bonus + Private Medical Insurance
About The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and accomplished Home Manager to lead Maples Care Home in Bexleyheath.
Maples is a purpose-built, 75-bed home providing residential, nursing and dementia care across three floors. The home offers spacious en-suite accommodation and a modern environment, while retaining the warm and homely feel that residents and their families value.
This is an opportunity for an established care-home leader who is motivated by making a visible and lasting difference.
The service is currently rated Requires Improvement by CQC, and we aren't looking to hide from that. We need a leader who understands what Good looks like, knows how to get there, and has the credibility to take colleagues with them on that journey.
Contract
- £80,000 – £90,000 per annum
- Opportunity to earn up to 40% of salary through annual bonus
- Private Medical Insurance
- Pension
- 5.6 weeks' annual leave
Why This Role Matters
There is plenty here to build on.
- Occupancy currently sits at approximately 88%, while Maples holds a 9.5/10 review score on carehome.co.uk.
- Recent reviews continue to speak positively about the care, staff, environment and resident experience.
At the same time, there are clear areas where we want to see improvement. Alongside the regulatory position, the home has averaged approximately 109 agency hours per week over the last month. Building a stable, engaged permanent workforce and reducing that reliance will therefore be an important priority for the incoming Home Manager.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Our expectations go further than simply improving individual KPIs.
The next Home Manager will have the opportunity to bring clarity, consistency and strong leadership to the home; strengthening governance, developing the team and ensuring that the quality experienced by residents is consistently reflected in every aspect of regulatory and operational performance.
This isn't a role for somebody looking simply to maintain the status quo.
It's for someone who enjoys leading improvement and can point to examples in their career where their leadership genuinely changed the trajectory of a service.
What You'll Be Doing
- You will take full leadership responsibility, creating a clear plan for improvement while remaining highly visible to residents, relatives and colleagues.
- Quality and clinical governance will be central to your role, alongside developing and holding your leadership team accountable, building a stable workforce, reducing reliance on agency, maintaining and growing occupancy, and creating a culture where colleagues understand both the standards expected of them and the part they play in achieving them.
- You'll also build strong relationships with CQC, families, healthcare professionals and the wider community.
What You'll Bring
- We are looking for a proven Home Manager, ideally nurse-qualified, with experience of leading a home of comparable size and complexity.
- Crucially, you'll need a strong regulatory track record. Previous experience of improving a service or successfully leading a turnaround would be particularly valuable.
- You'll combine clinical and quality knowledge with commercial awareness and strong people leadership.
- You'll also be comfortable using data to understand what's happening within your home, identify where intervention is needed and make informed decisions rather than simply reacting to problems as they arise.
- Above all, you'll be a visible, credible and values-driven leader who can engage a team, set clear expectations and bring people with you through a period of positive change.
