Home Manager Opportunity | Leighton Court Care Home, Wallasey, Wirral

About Leighton Court

Leighton Court is a 48 bedded purpose-built seafront care home in Wallasey, providing Residential, Nursing, Dementia and Respite Care. We are seeking an experienced Nurse-Qualified Home Manager to lead this successful and well-established service. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate leader to provide strong clinical leadership, further develop best practice, drive continuous improvement, and bring fresh ideas and innovation to an already thriving home.

The home has exceptionally strong foundations, with a Good CQC rating, an impressive 9.9 Carehome.co.uk score, and 98% occupancy. It benefits from a highly experienced and long-standing team, is fully recruited, and has a strong and stable workforce with many colleagues having been with the home for many years.

Leighton Court is highly regarded by local stakeholders and the local authority, particularly for the quality of its dementia care. This role offers the opportunity to build on an already successful service while leading its continued development and supporting its vision of becoming a recognised specialist in dementia care.

The Role

This vacancy has arisen following the retirement of a long-serving Home Manager who successfully led the home for over 20 years. The service has been supported by a Turnaround Manager for several months, creating an excellent opportunity for a permanent leader to build on the home's strong foundations and drive its next phase of development.

As Home Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, quality, governance and commercial performance of the home. You will be a visible and approachable leader, creating a positive culture where colleagues feel supported, empowered, developed and accountable.

Quality and resident outcomes will remain at the heart of everything you do. You will ensure effective clinical and operational governance, maintain regulatory compliance, champion person-centred care and support the delivery of exceptional experiences for residents and their families.

Working closely with your team, you will develop clinical practice, strengthen leadership capability, embrace innovation and help realise the home's ambition to become a recognised centre of excellence for dementia care.

About You

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate leader who combines strong clinical expertise with a people-focused approach.

You will be approachable, visible and consistent in your leadership style, balancing empathy with accountability and ensuring high standards are maintained throughout the service.

The successful candidate will have experience leading nursing services and supporting the development of qualified staff. You will be confident coaching and guiding teams through change, embedding best practice and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

You will also have:

  • An active NMC registration (RGN/RMN)
  • Previous experience managing a nursing home
  • Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, clinical governance, safeguarding and quality assurance
  • A track record of delivering high standards of care and quality outcomes
  • Experience leading, developing and motivating multidisciplinary teams
  • A genuine passion for dementia care and improving residents' quality of life
  • A Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management for Adult Care (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards this qualification
