Home Manager – Premium Care Home
Walton-on-Thames, Surrey
£75,000 - £85,000 + 20% Annual Bonus + Private Medical Insurance
Compass Associates are exclusively supporting the appointment of an experienced Home Manager for a high-quality, purpose-built care home in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and experienced Home Manager to take overall responsibility for a 65-bed service, leading the home's operational performance, care standards, team and resident experience.
The home provides residential, nursing, dementia and end-of-life care within a modern, purpose-built environment, with 65 en-suite bedrooms and a dedicated leadership team across care, lifestyle, catering, housekeeping and maintenance.
This is a role for a Home Manager who wants to make their mark. You will have genuine ownership of the home, supported by an experienced Regional Director and wider operational team, with the opportunity to influence the culture, performance and continued development of the service.
The successful candidate will join a large, established and growing care provider that invests heavily in its people, with structured leadership development, a dedicated Learning Academy and clear opportunities for progression beyond the Home Manager role.
The Opportunity
As Home Manager, you will take full ownership of the day-to-day leadership and performance of the home, including:
- Providing visible, inspirational leadership across the service.
- Leading, developing and retaining a high-performing management and care team.
- Maintaining excellent standards of care, governance and compliance.
- Ensuring the home is fully prepared for regulatory inspection.
- Managing budgets, staffing levels and overall operational performance.
- Driving occupancy and supporting the commercial performance of the home.
- Building strong relationships with residents, relatives and key external stakeholders.
- Creating a positive culture where people feel valued, supported and motivated.
- Ensuring residents are genuinely at the centre of decision-making.
- Identifying opportunities to improve the quality, reputation and performance of the home.
- Working closely with the Regional Director and wider operational support functions.
- Taking full accountability for the home's ongoing development and success.

About You
We are looking for an exceptional Home Manager, rather than simply someone who has held the job title.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience successfully managing a care home.
- A strong background in elderly residential, nursing and/or dementia care.
- Experience leading a medium to large care service.
- A strong understanding of CQC, governance and regulatory requirements.
- A proven track record of delivering high standards of care and operational performance.
- Experience managing budgets, occupancy, staffing and commercial performance.
- The ability to develop and retain a strong management team.
- A visible, hands-on leadership style.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The confidence to challenge, influence and make decisions.
- A genuine passion for improving the lives of older people.
RGN or RMN Nurse Qualified candidates are particularly encouraged to apply, although this is not essential.

The Interview Process
The organisation has designed a two-stage process to give both sides the opportunity to understand whether the role is the right fit.
Stage One – Regional Director
An initial Teams interview with the Regional Director to discuss your experience, leadership style and suitability for the role.
Mystery Visit
Following a successful first stage, you will have the opportunity to visit the home as a prospective resident/family member. This gives you the chance to experience the home for yourself and understand the environment, culture and resident experience from a different perspective.
Stage Two (Final Stage) – Operations Director
The final stage will involve a formal interview and presentation with the Operations Director.
Location
The home is based in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, with excellent access from Weybridge, Esher, Cobham, Hersham, Chertsey, Kingston upon Thames, Epsom, Leatherhead, Woking, Guildford, Staines-upon-Thames, Addlestone, Surbiton and surrounding areas.
