I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You will also lead the commercial performance of the home, using occupancy, average weekly fee, budgets and operating performance to inform decisions.
Building local relationships and following through on enquiries will be central to growth, alongside delivering an experience that gives residents and families confidence in their choice.
About You
You will be a qualified nurse with care home management experience and a strong clinical background. Experience of leading nursing, residential and dementia services, sound CQC knowledge and a strong inspection track record are important. Commissioning experience, or experience of developing a relatively new home, would be particularly valuable.
You will bring evidence of growing occupancy, developing teams and improving results. You should understand average weekly fee and EBITDARM, and be able to use performance information to guide decisions while maintaining high standards of care.
Your leadership style will be empowering and inclusive. Honest, sincere and approachable, you will give colleagues a voice, help them grow and hold them accountable with clarity and fairness. We are looking for someone who brings energy, a practical can-do attitude and a sense of enjoyment to the home, together with an eye for detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
