Role Description

The Home Support Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Middlesbrough, overseeing the delivery of high-quality home support services to children with additional needs.

The role involves:

  • Managing and coordinating support teams
  • Ensuring safe and effective care
  • Monitoring performance against agreed standards and regulatory requirements

The Home Support Manager will lead on:

  • Scheduling
  • Workload allocation
  • Service planning

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Responding to changing needs
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Working closely with families and partner agencies to develop person-centred support plans, resolve issues, and promote independence and wellbeing

Qualifications

  • Experience in managing home support, social care, or community-based services, with a strong focus on person-centred support and safeguarding
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, including team supervision, performance management, and staff development
  • Strong organisational and planning abilities, including rota management, workload prioritisation, and effective use of resources
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, colleagues, and partner organisations
  • Knowledge of relevant social care legislation, regulatory standards, and health and safety requirements within home support services
  • Competence in using digital systems for record-keeping, reporting, and service coordination
  • Relevant professional qualification in social care, health, or management (e.g., NVQ/QCF Level 3 or 4 in Health and Social Care or equivalent) is highly desirable
  • Ability to work collaboratively, demonstrate integrity, and support Middlesbrough Council’s values and the Mayor’s Vision of a Fairer, Safer, Stronger Middlesbrough
